Now's your chance. We are selling our camp on Frenchboro, the small town located on Long Island, at the entrance of Blue Hill Bay, eight miles southeast of the town of Bass Harbor on Mount Desert Island.  The island is two miles long by a mile and a half wide at its widest point, and consists of a total of 2,500 acres, roughly 1,000 acres of which are owned by Maine Coast Heritage Trust. 

The small camp sits on 1.5 acres of land in a remarkably private setting and offers a limited view of the harbor. ( A better view could be obtained with the cutting of two trees if land owner permission was to be granted ). 

The camp underwent outside renovations approximately 5 years ago getting a new roof, new cedar shingles, all new windows and doors. The small camp has hardwood floors on the first floor and rustic unfinished boards up. The downstairs consists of a kitchen on one half and a living room on the other. The upstairs is an open attic with four metal twin beds. 

The camp has power, but no running water or septic, yet comes with a detached "potty" and shed. The camp is move in ready for the average island camper or could be a handy mans dream for the creative mind. It includes a working stove and refrigerator, kitchen table, metal/porcelain sink/counter/cupboard unit all of a nostalgic period along with an older sleeper sofa, living room chair, dresser and the upstairs beds. 

The island itself is unique in that it is one of the few islands left that is not a tourist attraction. This is truly a working island and an island to get away to. Many of the islands population are involved in the lobster industry. There is a wonderful trial the follows the complete perimeter of the island and many beautiful rock beaches. 

Ferry service is provided by the Maine Department of Transportation with a car ferry servicing the island on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and a people ferry on Friday's. The crossing is just a mere 50 minutes from Bass Harbor.
